I'm rather lucky, in that my day job allows me to work from home and doesn't take up a lot of my time. It means that I can help look after my daughter and my wife and also find time for the occasional brewday. It's still less than a year since I started making my own beer and while I'm pretty happy with what I'm making, I feel like I'm bumping up against the limitations of a kitchen setup and started to wish for something a little more permanent and, well, shinier. The space is actually available when I manage to clear the back of the garage and I'm getting some decent power sorted next week.

I have a HLT, a kettle and a couple of fermenters on order from homebrewbuilder.co.uk. My Igloo mash tun is probably going to be ok for the moment, but my inexorable logic works like this: as a 100L HLT only costs £10 more than a 50L HLT, then I might as well have a 100L HLT. So I have an 100L HLT and a 100L kettle on order, and two 70L pots for fermenters. This should mean I should be able to do around 50L batches, which is far too much for one person to drink on their own (yes it is, don't argue), so, once I've got a couple of beers that I'm happy with (and hopefully other people), I'll be taking that leap and registering as a brewery with HMRC.

It's not going to be a big thing, and I suppose I'm being presumptuous enough to think that there's any space in the market any more and that I'm good enough to fill it. But if you don't try, you don't know, and I'll have had some fun having a go. And I'm not giving up the day job.
